The Post Office is forever essential to our democracy. We can help FIX the USPS. Here’s where you come in. You can:

  1. Call on President Trump to reverse his blocking of desperately needed emergency relief.

  2. Call on the USPS Board of Governors to remove Postmaster General Louis DeJoy for his politically-motivated actions designed to sabotage the U.S. Postal Service and undermine America’s confidence in the most trusted government agency.

  3. Call on Congress to rewrite the crippling 2006 legislation that narrowly defines what services the USPS can offer, and saddles the USPS with unusually onerous financial obligations. Text USPS to 50409 to urge congress to reverse the 2006 Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act.

Instead of gutting this vital part of our national infrastructure, we can EXPAND it. Together, we can build a vibrant USPS that may:

  1.  Use post offices to help erase the digital divide by providing broadband and wi-fi services in underserved locales, creating public municipal online networks. The Post Office can also provide a wide range of services, including: voter registration, hunting and fishing licenses, and supporting census workers, particularly in remote communities postal workers visit regularly.

  2. Help revive local journalism by turning the more than 30,000 post offices across the U.S. into multimedia hubs for weekly newspapers and community journalism – especially within ‘news deserts’ where local media outlets no longer exist.

  3. Re-introduce postal banking, allowing post offices to offer services such as savings accounts and check cashing. In communities abandoned by banks for their lack of profitability, people are forced to rely on exploitative payday loans and high check-cashing fees.
